The Madera Group, the West Hollywood, Calif.-based operator of Tocaya Organica and Toca Madera, on Wednesday said it has received a $20.85 million equity investment from investment firm Breakwater Management.
The investment will be used to fund the expansion of 10-unit Tocaya, a fast-casual organic Mexican concept, as well as the company’s other concepts, such as fine-dining Mexican concept Toca Madera and beach lounge concept Casa Madera, established in partnership with Caesars Entertainment.

The restaurant launches a rotating mezcal cocktail menu, along with reimagined traditional Mexican tapas selections. Through the end of the month, guests 21+ can sip on cocktails like the the Siempre, made with El Silencio's Espadin, cucumber, gran classico bitter, lemon and egg white. A DJ and guitarist will perform live every Monday, too.
"We specifically chose our location at the Atelier because we loved the design aesthetic of the building," Tocaya co-founder Tosh Berman tells L.A. Weekly. "It represents a crown jewel in the residential landscape of the area. We have a corner location, offering us high visibility, and we're close to fitness and grocery concepts that coalesce well with Tocaya Organica.
The first out-of-state branch of Tocaya Organica, a counter-service Californian concept touting healthful, modern Mexican fare, is set to open at Kierland Commons on Saturday, Nov. 17. “The Kierland Commons location marks our first location outside California and therefore a watershed moment for the brand," founder Tosh Berman said.
